Matthew is an assistant professor of Directing and Shakespeare in the department of Theatre and Dance at Ball State. Before that, he was a Chicago area actor and director for 11 years.

Stage credits include Pacific Overtures, and The Little Mermaid for Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Early and Often with Famous Door Theatre Company, Don’t Dress For Dinner at Metropolis Performing Arts Center, and Roasting Chestnuts for Fox Valley Repertory, and the title role in Floyd Collins for Swift Creek Mill Playhouse. From 2008-2012, Matthew served as the Artistic Director of BackStage Theatre Company, where he directed A Scent of Flowers, Three Days of Rain, The Play About The Baby and the Jeff Nominated productions of Memory, Aunt Dan and Lemon, On An Average Day and How I Learned To Drive for BackStage Theatre Company. Matthew has directed Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Metropolis Performing Arts Center. Other selected directing credits include Accomplice for Noble Fool Theatricals, The Glass Menagerie for Illinois Repertory Theatre, A Tempest by Aime Cesar for the Playing French Festival at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Every summer, Matthew serves as Artistic Director for the SCORE program at the Historic Embassy Theatre in Ft. Wayne IN. Matthew holds an M.F.A in Directing from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a B.S. in Musical Theater from Ball State University.
