Richard J Roberts – DIRECTOR


Here at ATI, Richard has directed The 39 Steps, My Fair Lady, and The Musical of Musicals. At the Indiana Repertory Theatre, where he is the resident dramaturg, he has directed The Night Watcher, Neat, Pretty Fire, The Giver, The Power of One, Twelfth Night, and four editions of A Christmas Carol. Later this season at the IRT he directs Bridge & Tunnel. Other directing credits include The Musical of Musicals at the Phoenix Theatre; My Fair Lady, Godspell, The Sound of Music, Sunday in the Park with George, and Romeo and Juliet at the Edyvean Repertory Theatre; The King and I and Kiss Me, Kate at the Indianapolis Civic Theatre; The Winter’s Tale for IndyShakes and Wisdom Tooth; Eurydice at Butler University; The Penelopiad, Much Ado about Nothing, and The Music Man at Anderson University; and Side by Side by Sondheim at DePauw University. Richard studied music at DePauw and theatre at IU. In 2003 he was awarded a Creative Renewal Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis.
